The Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund (KEEF) welcomes the ratification of the loan agreement between the Republic of Kosovo, represented by the Ministry of Finance, Labour and Transfers, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the implementation of the Public Buildings Energy Efficiency Project, approved by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
This important institutional step paves the way for the implementation of the largest energy efficiency project in public buildings in the country, which is expected to include the renovation of up to 400 buildings at both central and local levels. The project aims to improve energy performance and increase comfort for users of these facilities.
The total investment amounts to €86 million and includes:
• €50 million loan from the EBRD through the Government of the Republic of Kosovo
• €12.6 million co-financing from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo
• €20 million in grants from international donors, including the European Union and the Danish Fund for Kosovo
• €3.4 million grant for technical assistance, support to the implementation unit, and preparation of feasibility studies
KEEF is currently in the process of preparing a public call, through which municipalities and central institutions will have the opportunity to apply for support under this project.
On this occasion, KEEF reminds all municipalities that have prior agreements with the Fund and outstanding obligations to settle them in a timely manner, in order to remove any restrictions on their eligibility to apply for this program.
The Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund remains committed to advancing investments that contribute to sustainable development, improving conditions in the public sector, and achieving the objectives of the country’s energy strategy.
